Dr. Katelyn McNicol

Dr. Katelyn McNicol- Uxbridge

Born in Oakville, Ontario, Katelyn moved to Australia with her family when she 4 years old. Having grown up with a menagerie of animals including horses, casts, dogs, rabbits, guinea-pigs, mice, rats and chickens, there was never a question that she would become a vet.

After graduating from the University of Queensland in Australia in 2009, Katelyn worked at an equine referral hospital for the first 8 years of her career. This allowed her to gain broad experience managing intensive medical cases (colic, colitis, pneumonia, septic foals) as well as performing anesthetics for a varied case load ranging from emergency colic’s to laceration repairs to routine arthroscopies.

It was here early in her career that she first discovered her passion for dentistry. Since those early days, Katelyn has continued to expand her knowledge and experience in routine and performance dentistry as well as developing her skills in extractions and minor sinus surgery.

A move to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland saw Katelyn working at a mixed animal practice where she added cattle, goat, sheep and alpaca care to her skill set whilst furthering her skills in dentistry, field surgery, internal medicine and sport horse medicine.

Katelyn returned to Canada as often as possible, often visiting her uncle’s cottage in the Muskoka’s. It was through these visit that she knew she wanted to live and work in Canada and in March this year she finally made the move!

Katelyn believes that clear communication with clients leads to the best possible outcome for her patients and enjoys developing these understanding relationships with her clients. She looks forward to bringing her passion of dentistry and patient care to MPES.

Outside of work, Katelyn enjoys outdoor pursuits such as hiking and rock climbing, as well as more sedentary hobbies like jig saw puzzles. She misses her ginger cat Meg, and her retired dressage horse Ally in Australia, but hopes to get her bum back in the saddle soon.
