Dr Madelaine Russell - Intern Associate

Dr. Madelaine Russell graduated top of her class from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island in May 2024. In June, she started her 1-year internship at Mckee-Pownall Equine Services to further advance her training in equine practice. Dr. Russell is originally from Dieppe, New-Brunswick and grew up riding and competing in dressage around the Maritimes. She has a broad range of interests including sports medicine, dentistry, and theriogenology. During her time in veterinary school, she received awards for academic excellence and technical proficiency in pharmacology, pathology, diagnostic imaging, and equine medicine. In her final year of veterinary school, Dr. Russell gained invaluable clinical and technical experience in rotations across Canada in PEI, Ontario, and Alberta. Dr. Russell enjoys working with a diverse range of clientele from show-horses to back-yard pets and everything in between. In her spare time, Dr. Russell enjoys taking her cat Basil on adventures, running, hiking, and relaxing with a good book or movie.
